Common Skin Conditions -- Eczema
Eczema is an immune system disorder that causes red, dry, intensely itchy skin rashes that may blister, crack, or ooze. There are many kinds of eczema, and it is not clear what causes the condition. However, it is more likely to appear in people who have allergies, hay fever, or asthma. It's also more likely to occur in people whose family members have one of those conditions.
The condition can be controlled, but not cured, with medication and lifestyle changes. These may include controlling stress levels and minimizing conditions known to exacerbate the condition, such as irritating fabrics, known allergens, hot showers, extended periods of skin dampness, sweat, or extreme temperatures.
