Rosacea is a common chronic skin disorder that can sometimes affect the eyes as well. People with rosacea experience painful, red swelling in areas of the face, typically on the cheeks, forehead, nose, or chin. Sometimes this rash is accompanied by acne-like lesions or small blood vessels visible just underneath the surface of the skin.
Anyone can get rosacea; however, it is most likely to affect fair-skinned women between the ages of 30 and 50. Sun exposure, eating certain foods, stress, and environmental factors may trigger flare-ups.
