Meet Brad Roberts, singer-songwriter

What he's known for: Being the lead singer and guitarist for the Crash Test Dummies.
Brad thinks Ben Franklin nailed it with his view on how to live: "Everything in moderation." According to Roberts, "Ben certainly hit it with that line. I believe one of the keys to looking younger is to do everything, but within reason. To update Ben's line, I believe it's best to do everything in moderation, including moderation."
His current age: 47
His RealAge: 40.3
How he reacted to finding out his RealAge: Roberts was taken aback by the RealAge results. "I thought, 'Wow, it can't be that low,'" Roberts said while chuckling. "I was so pleased. I thought it was a very interesting experiment, and I can see why so many people have taken the RealAge Test. It's really cool because we're not all at our actual age. Some people don't age as much, and others have aged more than their chronological age."
What keeps him young: Yoga, according to Roberts, is his fountain of youth. "I would say yoga is right up there with moderation and perhaps then some," Roberts said. "Yoga staves off old age. I'm living proof of it. I didn't look like this before I started doing yoga. There are so many benefits to yoga. You have increased flexibility and balance. Yoga changed my skeleton. I grew up a super-round-shouldered kid, and now I'm a broad-shouldered guy who is looking and feeling good. And then there are the sexual benefits. My wife, who also does yoga, and I are so flexible, so we have great sex. I think we both look younger than our actual ages."
(Never tried yoga? This simple sun salutation series is a good place to start.)
What challenges him: Like many people, Roberts, who used to consider himself "fat," is often tempted by food that he shouldn't consume. If Roberts, who grew up along the plains of Winnipeg, Manitoba, could stay in his adopted home of Manhattan, he believes he would have no problem maintaining his youthful look. But he insists that his job is hazardous to his health. "When I go on the road, I often end up in bad shape," Roberts said. "I tend to eat the messy eggs as opposed to the salad because most of the salads are made up of bad iceberg lettuce. But that's the common denominator between me and most people. Most people are running around and eating junk. Somehow, we have to make healthier choices, dietwise, to look younger and feel better. We can eat some messy eggs but do it in moderation. It's best to eat healthy and exercise to take care of the physical side."

Roberts's mental side receives a boost, courtesy of meditation. "One of the best ways to handle stress is to meditate," Roberts said. "What I do for a living can be very stressful. When I'm doing really well, I meditate, and I definitely think that's something else that helps you feel and look younger. So I think some of the best things you can do are meditation and yoga. And do everything in moderation. All of that works for me. I don't think my RealAge would be where it's at without those three things."
