Learn More: Diarrhea

Causes: Travel (Traveler's Diarrhea)

Travel may lead to diarrhea for any number of reasons. To start, travel brings about changes in your normal routine and may spark anxiety, both of which may cause enough disruption to trigger diarrhea. But true traveler's diarrhea is usually caused by drinking untreated water or eating contaminated food.

If diarrhea is threatening to interfere with your travel plans, try these home remedies or an over-the-counter treatment. As with all types of diarrhea, if your symptoms are severe, include ongoing abdominal pain, last longer than one week, or worsen, see a doctor.
