Benefits of Exercise

Exercise is one of the easiest, most effective ways to improve blood lipids and lower coronary heart disease (CHD) risk. Aim to get at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity, like brisk walking, at least 5 days a week.

Exercise reduces CHD risk factors by:

  • Reducing blood pressure
  • Reducing triglyceride levels
  • Raising HDL-cholesterol levels
  • Decreasing diabetes risk

Resistance training decreases body fat and increases lean body mass, which may help reduce both total and LDL cholesterol.
