When to Seek Medical Attention for Low Back Pain

Low back pain can often be excruciating, but the good news is that very few people who have low back pain have a dangerous medical condition or have a major problem with the bones or the joints of the back.

Most people who develop mild low back discomfort may not need to see a doctor or other healthcare professional right away. Often, within a few days, the symptoms go away without any treatment.

You should visit your doctor or healthcare professional if you experience any of the following:

  • Your symptoms are severe.
  • The pain prevents you from doing everyday activities.
  • The pain does not go away or get better within a few days.
