
Harriet Imrey, PhD, is a senior scientist at RealAge and a member of the RealAge Scientific Advisory Board. She is a specialist in epidemiology and risk
communication, with over two decades of experience in the design of health risk appraisal systems.
A graduate of Rhodes College, Dr. Imrey received her PhD at the University of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill. In 1981, she began a specialization in the statistical methods of risk appraisal and medical expert systems with colleagues at the University
of Illinois College of Medicine at Urbana-Champaign.
Dr. Imrey served as principal investigator for risk appraisal research sponsored by the National Institutes of Health and other agencies. The projects have included the design and
development of computer-based risk appraisals for teenagers and the elderly, and instruments for assessing the risk of cancer, cardiovascular disease,
HIV/AIDS, and other conditions. Dr. Imrey has designed customized risk appraisal programs for numerous Fortune 500 companies, hospitals, research
institutions, voluntary associations, and managed care organizations.
Dr. Imrey has been a member of the federal Health Risk Appraisal Advisory Committee, the Technical Advisory Committee of the Carter Center/CDC Health Risk Appraisal Update
Project, the board of directors of the International Health Evaluation Association, and a member and chair of the Research Committee of the Society
for Prospective Medicine.
