Advertising Policies
Third-party clients who wish to promote their products or services through RealAge help RealAge remain a free service. As such, RealAge has established guidelines to govern our association with third-party clients who wish to advertise with us. The interpretation and enforcement of these guidelines is dictated by RealAge, as are all other issues associated with the representation of third-party materials that appear on the RealAge Web site or in other RealAge publications. Third-party clients may be referred to as advertisers or sponsors. Third-party client materials may consist of banner ads, contextual ads, video ads, promotional e-mail materials, or sponsored site content.

1. Advertising Materials
Advertisers will never influence independent RealAge content, nor will information or materials from advertisers be presented as RealAge content. On any Realage site pages or in any RealAge publications in which advertising materials appear, RealAge maintains complete control of the editorial content of the page. The difference between advertiser elements and Realage content will always be clearly defined and marked on our Web site and in all our publications.
  • Advertising materials on all site pages and e-mails where they are included will be clearly labeled with phrases such as “Advertisement,” “From our advertiser,” etc.
  • All advertising materials are screened by the RealAge Advertising Review Board in an effort to ensure that they are accurate, legal, and truthful. RealAge will never permit advertisements that are deceptive or offensive, that make unreasonable or unlikely claims, or that interfere with the experience of independent content without user initiation.
  • RealAge does not necessarily endorse products or services advertised.
2. Sponsored Content
RealAge allows sponsored content by relevant third-party clients who are dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles and committed to delivering timely and useful information to the health-conscious consumer. However, sponsored content is created for or by the sponsor and is wholly owned and controlled by the sponsor. RealAge does not review sponsored content for accuracy, balance, or objectivity. RealAge will never present sponsored content as independent RealAge content, and the difference between sponsor-controlled content and independently produced editorial materials will be clearly delineated on our Web site and in all our publications.
  • Sponsors and sponsor content are clearly labeled with “Sponsored by [sponsor name]” or “From our sponsor [sponsor name]” in the heading of each page of any sponsor-controlled section.
  • Sponsor logos are included within the section heading for each page of sponsor-controlled content.
  • Sponsor copyrights are included within any section of sponsor-controlled content.
  • Individual pieces of sponsor-controlled content (articles, videos, etc.) are labeled to provide clear visibility into who has editorial control over the content: “The sponsor has sole editorial control over the following information.”
  • Anytime independent RealAge content contains links to sponsored content for promotion purposes, those links are clearly labeled as sponsor-leading links so that users can make an informed decision while navigating our Web site and our e-mails. Phrases such as “Health information from one of our sponsors,” “Featured Sponsor,” “From our sponsor,” etc., are used.
  • All references to sponsors or sponsor content will link back to our advertising policies to allow users the option of educating themselves on the definition of our advertising terms.
  • RealAge does not necessarily endorse the products or services promoted by sponsors.
