We don’t recommend focusing on a narrow list of foods, but rather a broad, diverse array of colorful fruits and vegetables, whole grains, monounsaturated fats (olive oil, nuts, seeds), fish, lean meats, low-fat dairy, and the right balance of water. A diverse, nutrient-rich diet will provide the fiber, protein, and vitamins needed to maintain a strong, healthy body. The brighter or darker the color of fruits and vegetables, the more antioxidant punch they tend to have, which can reduce the oxidative stress that can age your body.
Some foods that might surprise you as being healthy in moderation are peanuts, dark chocolate, and small amounts of red wine, coffee, and tea. Eating a diverse diet that includes 4 servings of fruit and 5 servings of vegetables per day can make your RealAge as much as 4 years younger.
