Amazing Apple News

Finish up those autumn apples. They're good for your brain.

Apples are high in quercetin, a compound with antioxidant properties that may decrease the risk of neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer's by protecting brain cell membranes. Quercetin has an even higher antioxidant capacity than vitamin C, studies suggest. Other ways to get your fill: tea, onions, and cranberries.

Quercetin is a member of the flavonoid family found in apples, onions, tea, cranberries, blueberries, broccoli, cherries, cocoa, grapes, apricots, red wine, and kale.

To Ahi-man...The Bible doesn't mention apples as being in the Garden of Eden but, who knows, maybe it was?! At any rate, it's a beautiful, nutritious & healthy fruit so I'm grateful that He created it! I've been trying to eat an apple a day ever since I heard of how highly nutritious it is...especially the peels. Especially good for someone like me who recently had cancer. Don't want that monster to return!

Please remmeber that the skins of conventionally-farmed apples have been sprayed with pesticides, and then waxed to prevent moisture loss during storage.

Buy organically-grown apples for the best health results. You can then safely eat the skins.

Rosehip tea is packed with so much vitamin c and something called rutin. Rutin helps to keep the blood vessels from hardening and weakening, preventing strokes and bruising etc. The high content of vitamin c helps the body to make collagen, and the appearance and health of our skin is helped tremendously by replacing ordinary tea with this drink a few times a day for several weeks. The way that I found this out was that I was breaking out in massive bruises for no apparent reason or if I just knocked myself slightly the bruise would be dramatic in comparison to the impact. I also had an allergic rash on my stomach that itched terribly and my legs would be dry and itchy and bleeding. Because I am a christian and believe that God made natural remedies for our ailments I prayed for an answer to both problems and got the words... Rosehip tea. Within 3 weeks of drinking a cup 3 times a day my problems had more or less disappeared and now I drink it as a preventative and have no more itchiness or bruising. I find that I do not get colds or if one is threatening to come on it does not take hold. I find the tea is much tastier than normal herbal drinks and can be taken with a natural sweetener if preferred.
