All About YOU: How to Eat More and Weigh Less

Want to lose a few before the upcoming holidays? Fill up with fiber.

It's no news that boosting your fiber intake is good for your health. But boosting it at breakfast may be the key to staying lean, say RealAge doctors Michael Roizen and Mehmet Oz. In their new-this-week book, YOU: On a Diet, they suggest putting fiber-rich foods like oatmeal, whole-grain toast, or a veggie-packed omelet on your morning menu to curb afternoon binging on Cheetos or cookies.

I heard somewhere that if you are having an irresistible craving for anything you should stop and count to your age and then see if you still have that irresistible craving or if that craving has disappeared.

I can attest to this method because just the other day (Saturday, 11/30/3008) I had an insatiable urge to just munch ion whatever I could get my hands on. Then I remembered "Just count to your age" so I did and the urge passed

I thought this method worked hope it works for the rest of you.

Eat mushrooms... raw!
They're filling, tasty and almost no calories.

Just put a dozen in a colander.. swish under cold water.. drain and munch.

I love flaxseed. It is a good source of fiber and other nutrients. I grind it and put it cereal, smoothies, eggs, salad, and pasta sauce. Having a red delicious apple sliced and sprinkled liberally with cinnamon is like a treat without any need for guilt. Slowly nibbling a piece of dark chocolate is not a bad thing. Go for something 65% chocolate not processed with alkali.

I eat about every 3 hours. Usually some protein and carb mix. I maintain my weight this way.

mix granola with sliced almonds; add to non-fat yogart as an afternoon snack or add to your cereals. also have found that an apple Macintosh, Granny Smith helps remove the need for sweets.
Remember, mind over body and for so many the body has won, thus wider seats ...

When you're craving something sweet try eating a dill/sour pickle or sucking on a lemon. It's difficult to concentrate on wanting a sweet like chocolate while your taste buds are busy dealing with something sour. That gives you a few minutes to get past the "feed me" stage of craving sweets. At least it works for me...hopefully, for you too!
