REALAGE TIP

All About YOU: Bad to the Bone

When it comes to your health, too much of a good thing can often be bad. Enter high-protein diets.

While loading up on protein helps shed pounds, it also speeds up bone loss. Large amounts of protein -- a pound of chicken, fish, beef, or pork or 2.5 pounds of nuts per day -- prompt your body to excrete bone-building calcium rather than absorb it.

Hi, I read the article about taking too much Vit A, I had a problem with my thumbs cracking and being painful so I checked in my Vit book to see what I needed and found out Vit A is a skin vit, so I started taking 4 or 5 10,000 unites of vit A a day ( also you need to take Vit E with it to keep it from oxidizing) and after about 3 days it healed up and then I back off and got it again, so I would take it again. In time I discovered that my eyes were getting better also. I use to wear bifocals, but now I can't wear those glasses any more. I just need glasses for reading some of the small print. I read that in the third world countries where children are going blind from lack of vit A they give them enough to last a yr as the liver stores it and releases it as needed. I do not take high doses all the time but I probably take on average 3 a day of the 10,000 Beta carotene. My Dr thought I was over doing the vit and had me checked and found the only thing wrong was I was low in Vit D. Be careful what kind of Vit D you take as some is made from irradiated Cholestrol. That is the one he prescibed for me. When I discovered that I went on the internet and found a high dose Vit D ( 5,000) and I take one a day. He had prescibed 50,000 once a week. The next test was good. I found that Vit D 3 is the one that is good. I did tell him about my dicovery. Also I realize that everyone's body is different and we all have different needs. I hope this was helpful. I have studied the suppliments for 18 yrs. It is so interesting to me I read when ever I get a chance. I have found I can't rely on the Dr to fix my problems, although I admit there are times when they can help us.
