I juice the watermelon, skin and all. It makes a very refreshing drink and is said to have health benefits, too. It's importrant to scrub the melon well with soap, water and a little bleach, and of course, rinse well.

"Seasonal" fruits are always good for your health. Fruit grown in their natural enviornment and cycle provide the best health benefit. Watermelon are meant for Summer due to the reasons stated above.. (so why do we see them on grocery shelf in winter???)

Good tip, but I always keep melons in the fridge, and keep them in coolers on my forays into the country. I also like my melons in the fridge as it keeps the nipples perky!!! LOL

a watermelon is ripe when the belly of the melon is white, if its yellow its to ripe. Learned this from a produce manager, it really works.

To make sure I eat enough fruit, I cut up up a whole watermelon and place it in togo tupperware containers. That way I can enjoy it all week long at work.
