I am 78 and have been an excercise fan all my life. Two years ago I was struck down by Polymyalgia Rheumatica and the resulting weakness made me give up excercise completely for over a year. I am now better and have taken up walking, now up to 3km. a day at a fairly brisk pace that I increase as I feel able to do so. I am careful with my diet but have found it is not only quality (of food) that counts but also quantity. I have a high fiber (Kellogs All Bran)breakfast with yoghurt and milk, lunch green, yellow and red vegetables with chicken or fish and lettuce & tomato salad and fruit for dessert. In the evening a lettuce and tomato sandwich on brown bread. I have lost 4 kgs. over the last 6 months and feel great.
