The best ways to ensure that you gain the benefits of green tea are to let it steep for 3-5mins before drinking and leave the tea bag in the cup while drinking it. Also add lemon juice (or other citrus juice) to the cup of tea. The vitamin C in the juices help to protect the antioxidants in the green tea so that they do not oxidize before and while you are drinking it, thus saving the powerful antioxidants for your body!!! There has also been some research that supports green tea in melanoma prevention.

I drink tea and a fruit smoothie (homemade) every morning. Do you get the same "fruit juice" benefit if you use whole fruit, blended in your smoothie?

GOAIR4C,

As a substitute teacher and a college adjunct, running and green tea are my two mainstays for keeping focused and low key. There have been days the thought of running does not peak my interests, but after a half mile into the run, I feel better. You have to just get up and put one foot in front of the other. (Walkers also fall into this category)

Try to drink a cup/glass of each in the morning. Each has nutritional benefits in its own unique way, and most of us don't drink enough fluids (caffeine can act to dehydrate you). Don't swap one for the other if you can comfortably drink both.

while I think the juice thing is great, you can just eat the apple, orange etc and get the same effect. Distilled water is great for some things, but won't you be missing fluoride for your teeth?

I always have a cup of green or green and white , or white tea in the morning on the way to work. but first i make a juice mixture, which includes, prune juice, apple cider vinegar, pomegranate juice, liquid glucosamine and condroiten, flax seed, concord grape juice, several vitamin capsules and multi vitamins..and hi ho hi ho, its off to work I go!
At lunch I have ruby red grapefruit juice and in the evening I have a cup of green or english breakfast tea. I've been doing this routine for over 20 years...

If you zap a teaspoon of natural peanut butter in the microwave for a few seconds (it only takes a very short time), the pb will get very soft and will go a verrrrry loooong way.
