Non diabetics should not get offended. carbohydrates turn to sugar and sugar is not good for us. You don't have to worry about going blind.losing a limb,or kidney failure. Just a few of the things that can happen if you don't have tight control of your blood sugar. If you have low blood sugar have an orange or orange juice. If you have high blood sugar stay away from the carbs. This is from someone who has been diabetic for forty years and learing new control idea every day.

I'm offended by all the criticism by diabetics. I'm not diabetic but recognize that when my blood sugar spikes I go on a "carb kick." So, with an open mind I welcome advice that will keep it under control.

I didn't have any apple juice so I froze 1/4 cup of
applesauce and used that. I thought it was very good.

If all it took was cinnamon there would be no diabetics. You need to watch what you eat like carbohydrates, and sugars. Also check your blood sugar to see what effects these products have on it.

Cinnamon alone cannot control blood sugar; however, it is a good assist to medication. (I am brittle, on an insulin pump and take the pills, and I do 1/4 tsp cinnamon daily). However, try it in your eggs! I scramble my eggs with cinnamon, and get it in breakfast every morning!

We like to have oatmeal for breakfast and add as many of the good spices as possible including cinnamon a pinch of curry also a bit of flaxseed. To this sliced bannana, apple and any other fruit we have. Sounds like a lot but it's filling and good,Hintdon't use instant oatmeal use the old fashioned and microwave two min.

Thanks for the tip. There are endless variations for the ingredients. I get a large bag of fresh apple "seconds" from produce market, wash them well, cut into pieces, cover with left over pineapple juice or apple juice, add generous amount cinnamon and cook in m/w til tender. I may use for a type of apple crisp w/o sugar, or w/ yogurt.

This is a poor way to try to control blood sugar. This could actually be a disaster for someone with real blood sugar handling issuses. This smoothie recipe is loaded with sugar and does not have enough healthy fats to slow down the absorption of the sugars. A garnish of cinnamon is not going to do much for blood sugar regulation. Try a smoothie with plain whole milk kefir, FRESH low glycemic fruit, a raw egg yolk and health unrefined oils.

This one doesn't do it for me personally. I do a smoothie every morning with 1/2 C non-fat yogurt
1/2 C chopped spinach
1/4 C frozen blueberries and strawberries or pineapple, ginger, strawberry
1 or 2 sweet n low or splenda or 2 tsp honey (which ever I'm in the mood for)
add a little water or fruit juice, blend and enjoy! You don't even taste the spinach. You can add banana or more of one fruit then the other. I get creative by adding Ginger which is said to help inflammation...there are no limits and it's delicious!!!

The research states cinnamon has no effect on health. Please research this before promoting it.

Make cream of wheat with no fat skin milk, tastes the same as when you use whole milk anyway, cream of wheat is fat free as well, then when done sprinkle on cinnamon, you can also add raisins and chopped apples to the mixture. It's a great non fat breakfast or dessert.

I use cinnamon mixed in with 1/2 cup of cottage cheese Add some chopped apple, walnuts chopped and grapes if you have them on hand. Put on a bed of lettuce and serve some whole wheat crackers with it. I also use one packet of splenda to sweeten it

For my breakfast, I eat what my daughter calls "Fuzzy Apples"--similar to the smoothies, but a lot more satisfying chewing! I cut an apple into bite-size pieces, add cinnamon, add a couple tablespoons of freshly-ground golden flaxseed, and a handful of blueberries. Stirred all together, it does look "fuzzy"! Rates as a #1 breakfast for me!!
