I don't have a dog but I borrow my neighbor's dog. I feel safer and we both enjoy it!

It is a great suggestion to walk with someone else! I then would like a walking partner. Anyone up for the task?

Walk with someone else; your spouse, partner, friend, or a neigbhor keeps you both healthier and you never know where the conversation can lead. You can also combat peripheral vascular disease. Walking promotes healthy circulation in the feet and legs. After being bothered by achilles tendon pain and finally diagnosed with PVD, my vascular doc told me to start walking. Within 6 weeks, I was doing a mile in 18 minutes and had reduced the pain by 50%. Now, after 2 years, the pain is 90% gone and I feel great!

I get books on tape. Now with the new MP3 players, you can download books directly to your player. You get so caught up in the story, that you forget that you are too tire to go that extra block. It also helps you want to start, because you have to know what happens next. Music also helps with pace. There is nothing like the solitary walk with a book or music in your ear, and enjoying what ever weather you happen to be having. LIve in the moment

I place all catalogs, magazine subscriptions, professional journals, etc. that come in my mail directly on my treadmill and read them while i'm walking. This has really been an incentive for me.

I walk after dinner most every day of the week. I rather listen to the sounds of my surroundings than those of the music from my ipod --but maybe this is because my walks are in the evening. In any case, I never get bored!

Imagination: Tight butt lifted high with muscle not jiggle. Smaller thighs that allow those old jeans over the top of them instead of stopping them midway.

I have listened to audio books while walking for years. If you find an interesting book, you can't wait to go for your next walk to see how your book will unfold. Not long ago my library started an online program where I can download audio books right to my MP3 player. Now I don't even need to go to the library and no fumbling with cassettes or cds!

I made a playlist on my iPod that includes a warm up song and a cool down song with 30 minutes of upbeat songs in the middle. I keep rotating the songs so that it doesn't get boring.

I walk on a treadmill at the gym so I can easily control the speed, incline, time etc. While some people find walking boring, I use this time to catch up on reading the newspaper, magazines, books whatever I never get a chance to do at home. It's not something you can really do when walking outside. Just another benefit of using a treadmill.

I walk with my fur baby Edgar. Every morning, around the loop, and he's trotting next to me while I power walk. I'll walk with anyone who wants to walk with me, but walking partner beware...this is not a stroll
