If that is true that Flouride can bother your Thyroid (I've never heard that before) Jason brand makes a toothpaste that does not contain flouride. Some of their toothpaste does contain it, though. Hope this helps!

Eagle36, what product have you been using to stimulate the thyroid so it can produce the harmone that causes the body to get rid of fat cells naturally? I've gained 25 pounds since last June due to my hypothyroidism. It's so depressing. I'm taking 112 mcg's of synthroid but it's so hard to lose the weight. I have cut my calorie intake but the weight just refuses to leave.

Fluoride and some of the other ingredients in toothpaste can bother your thyroid system, and possibly keep you awake at night. Yes.

I'm juvenile diabetic, eat healthy (no sugar, sodas, low-carb) and exercise daily. I've suspected for years my thyroid was low but had it tested yearly and it came back "normal". Read Dr. Hotze's book and found rules for thyroid testing are outdated... get individual T4 and T3 levels tested! Did this and found my T4 was extremely low; have been on Synthroid for 3+ wks. I feel AWESOME! Lots of energy, have increased my exercise, lost 7 lbs and signed up for a half-marathon =)

breast feeding while taking thyroid synthetic hormone is said to be safe. but my teen aged daughter
had the same fate with her thyroid as i did, weather or not its just genetics i cant say but, i did Brest feed so its something to think about.
and no matter how well i eat the weight stays,i can maintain but hard to lose. we both had over active thyroids and had radiation therapy.

I wonder have any of you ever heard that drinking floridated water - from your city- will shut your thryoid down for 12 hours? Or any other form of Floride for that matter. Toothpaste, etc....

I already wrote what mineral helped me, but didn't say what low calorie food/s I like. I avoid fats and sweets because they are bad for the liver if you have Hepatitis. I like a shake made from non-fat powdered milk, Trader Joe's soy protein powder (or use another protein powder), a little Ovaltine, and instant coffee if desired. The soy doesn't bother me, doctors say it's OK.
A way I get in a variety of veggies is use dehydrated ones with few calories, like Shitake or wild mushrooms and dried seaweed. I like to cook with fresh onion and garlic.
A favorite fast food item is the yogurt/fruit/granola parfait at MacDonalds. I like the blueberries and strawberries. The small is only a dollar. I get the Chicken Salad too, I may I add a spoonful or 2 of pickle relish for a bit more zip and crunch.

My Dr. prescribed a thyroid synthetic hormone that was useless for me. I don't have hypothyroidism, I have hepatitis which can throw the thyroid off. I searched the web and found that Chromium Picolinate helps with metabolism, and we often don't get enough chromium. It seems to help me. It comes in different strengths. I got the store brands in 200 to 500 micrograms, and take enough to feel like being active instead of just laying in bed. My thyroid now tests normal again. I'm still working on getting the weight down, here comes summer!

Robin, what herbal thyroid support did you use? Please tell. Personally, when I quit smoking my body went into shock and played havoc with my thyroid, well everything. I rapidly gained 50 lbs. and my thyroid was testing hypo and borderline! I went to see a endro specialist which took months to get an app't and he said although my thyroid appears as one that is hypo and I have a 3mm nodule. It was still functioning off and on and he wanted to hold off on the medication (as did I). He couldn't tell me anything to do for prevention. I'm totally interested in what you used as I'm working out, watching what I eat and struggling to loose even a pound of weight! Thanks

I have been using a product that stimulates the thyroid to produce a hormone that causes the body to get rid of fat cells naturally.

I'm considered hypothyroid and tried 3+ throid prescriptions over 4 years - none helped me. Then I started taking an herbal thyroid nourisher and WOW that made all the difference. It's been 8 years since my diagnosis, and 4 1/2 years that I've been OFF prescription meds and exclusively herbal thyroid support and my levels are "right at normal" says my doctor.

Hi,hypothyroidism is of great intrest to me. I am taking synthroid for it for the longest time.Sometimes I still wonder if the first dignosis was correct or not.I am not denying that the medicine, when I got used to it the very first time made me feel a lot better. but now, after I take the medicine, it takes a long time to kick in I suppose. I complained to my Doctor abou that. Nothing Se can do but to give me the same medicine. My tests are normal because I am taking the medicine. So there's no way out.Right? This is to the Doctor. Thanks.

Even though you may test "normal" for a thyroid, typically TSH test, you may still be hypothyroid. The standards for testing have changed since 2003, but many doctors and labs still go by outdated standards. I went through misery trying to get help. An endocronologist told me it wasn't my thyroid after completing three pages of questions and examination. At the time, my blood pressure had gone up quite a bit, and there was a significant tightness around my neck. I was also unable to lose weight and was extremely tired. He told me to come back in 6 months. In that time, my cholesterol shot up 60 points and the numbers on my antibody test, I was given by my regular doctor were way over the charts. But I did a lot of research on my own which gave me the confidence to continue to search for help. It was my gynocologist who "saved" me. I have been on "Armour Thyroid" for the past year and a half, and am doing so much better. So if you still feel bad after being told your test results are normal, ask for a thyroid antibody test. It can make a difference.

Hi, I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism in 2005. My doctor prescribed NeoMercazol 5mg (contains Carbimazole) for me and I used for about a year and a half. Thank God, it worked and I'm feeling a lot better. Although I'm still having some of the symptoms, but it is not that bad. Now I take Thyroid test every 3 months to make sure the hormones are balanced.
