Severe Alzheimer's Disease
People in the later stage of AD are completely dependent upon others for their care. They require assistance with all aspects of everyday life, such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and eating.
The symptoms of severe AD may include
- Inability to recognize friends, family members, or self
- Language impairment
- Loss of motor skills
- Loss of control of bodily functions
- Health problems such as infections, seizures, and weight loss
- Sleep disturbances
Only a doctor can diagnose AD. If you are concerned about your cognitive function, or if you notice worrisome symptoms in someone you love, contact your healthcare provider.
