Are You Burned Out?
Consider how you feel today only, and then answer the following questions with a yes or no:
- Do you feel as worn down as tires with 100,000 miles on them?
- Do you primarily feel anger when you think about your boss, your kids, your food-begging parrot, or anyone else who makes demands on you?
- Do you feel overwhelmed or besieged by work?
- Do you explode easily -- even over trivial issues?
- Do you suffer from headaches, gastrointestinal distress, or insomnia?
- Are you considered the resident Evel Knievel -- someone who takes unnecessary risks?
- Are you stressed out about money more than once a month?
Results: Ideally, we want you to answer no to all of these questions. If you nodded yes to any of them, it's a sign you may be suffering from burnout and stress. The more yes answers you have, the faster you're moving toward a meltdown. Wondering how ongoing stress affects you and your health? Read "How Stress Works" at our partner site, HowStuffWorks.com.
