Long Songs for Long Walks (They'll Feel Short!)
By Chris Lawhorn
Songs that stretch past the 5-minute mark help you fall into a groove on longer walks. It's also a chance to enjoy songs that often turn up elsewhere in abbreviated forms. To that end, I've dug up the full "American Pie," both parts of "Hot Pants," and a version of "Thriller" with the synthesizers and wolves left intact. Here, I noted the song lengths, along with the usual tempos, to better plan your route.
1. Temptations - "Papa Was a Rolling Stone" (6:58) - 121 bpm

2. Don McLean - "American Pie" (8:32) - 98 bpm

3. James Brown - "Hot Pants, Pts 1 & 2" (6:55) - 99 bpm

4. Night Ranger - "Sister Christian" (5:02) - 90 bpm

5. Santa Esmeralda - "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" (10:28) - 118 bpm

6. Michael Jackson - "Thriller" (5:57) - 118 bpm

7. Simon & Garfunkel - "The Boxer" (5:07) - 95 bpm

8. Guns N' Roses - "Paradise City" (6:46) - 101 bpm

9. Billy Joel - "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant" (7:34) - 99 bpm

10. Bob Dylan - "Like a Rolling Stone" (6:07) - 101 bpm
